ya, i guess there are similar general prejudices now. i know i think of many in the south or back in my hometown in Oregon as somewhat stuck in ignorance, but the role of religion is reversed now.

True enough, and strange. Most of the pagans I know are quite urban.
Perhaps future etymologists will have new meanings for "fundie" or "jesus-freak" to ponder.
