censorship blows [Mar. 11th, 2005|11:10 am]

i blame our American puritanism for our outstandingly high number of porn addictions. i love porn, but i'm not down with addiction. if it wasn't "so bad", we could just get over the cycle of bad→interesting→guilt and just enjoy the body and sexuality with a healthy perspective.

those links are hardcore.

i was reffering to addiction=negative and desire=positive , not "what's natural".

it's the Taoist philosophy that fighting something only give it power. reconizing sexuality and desire as normal and healthy doesn't create the space (where addiction lives) which is created by the intended ignorance of puritanism.

i don't think addiction is a choice. most addicts who recognize their addictions wish it didn't have such influence on them.

but getting into something that can lead to addiction... ya, personal choice.

...that, along with the feelings of pleasure make for addiction. I don't think guilt alone makes for addiction, but it certainly is a big factor.

It's a vicous visous cycle. I am all for addictions, but against the guilt that may go along with it.

+pleasure. right. i missed that. i guess it would be good to find a balance of questioning beliefs/values that lead to guilt and... learn about possible outcomes/consequences of actions in order to make decisions informatively.
