so your passions have moved from computers to the art of bikes. Are you still making sweet music?
computers were never a passion, but i do have an internet addiction.
bikes are my transportation, my excercise, my hobby, and yes.. my current passion.
not really, still just dabbling and screwing around with synthy sound.
yesterday i spent the day at the bike shop my boyfriend works at and 3 people came in trying to sell bikes they found in a dumpster. it was really funny b/c they kept bringing in the same bike.
awesome. did they say how much they were trying to get?
I could use a 27" fork if any of them had that. I've only found one bike ever in my neighborhood trash. I have found 2 chem lab mixers, though.
>chem lab mixers
what could those be useful for??
i think one of them does, but they're heavy, no-brand crap. remind me. and... i took pics about a month ago of lots of abandonded bikes around central... wanna go with me soon to cut some locks?
The ex took the mixers and used them for his home chem lab. He double majored in chemistry and physics, and was getting his Phd at MIT, so at least he knew what he was doing. The question is what were they doing in my incredibly residential, working class neighborhood? Meth lab?
The only problem with rescuing bikes is there's no room in my car to put anything. We'd have to rent something, or find someone with a minivan. Depending on what we take, of course.
well, i have a zipcar account. all we have to do is scout first, get some use out of my hacksaw, then rent a ziptruck for an hour or two. fri?
And perhaps a hammer and a bic pen. Central on a Friday night is populated by cops.
i checked out the official city rules, and most of those bike should have been removed many many moons ago. i know that doesn't mean we wouldn't get shit, but if anyone asked, "it's my bike. i lost the key. prove otherwise."
I'm also willing to run at any point.
heh, not my style. i like to make it legit and stick with it. ..even if it's not my place to remove abandoned bikes, i'm good at talking my way through any trouble. i get a high roll for charisma.
are you making something for SCUL?
Yep. I figured it'd be easier to use a long fork on a kiddie bike than to do any real welding.
you should totally let me borrow that cable lock until august.
done. we'll meet up soon. i'm starting my shop apprenticeship tonight, getting off at 9 or 9:30 if you wanna come around davis for beer and a lock with a sweaty bike mechanic. wooo!
