january vaca - looking for suggestions [Nov. 28th, 2006|04:10 pm]
my friend bryan and i plan to spend two weeks *somewhere* south... mabye around argentina, peru... we're about to throw darts at a map, but i'd like to hear any stories of visits to smaller towns near an ocean... not too busy but with some conveniences. we'll probably take backpacks, rent bikes and try to stay in a hostel wherever we go.

One of my lj friends spent a lot of time there recently and posts the most amazing photographs of it. I'll try to get some information from him.

Actually, with your permission I'd like to post your question on my journal--I think there might be some interesting discussion.

Re: no... but

the ticket there won't be cheap. Goa's kinda a tourist/party town, so it's inexpensive but not cheap by india standards. Mumbai you can live in for $10 a day- your room will be ~$3.

My sister and her other half are 13 months into
what was to be a year long trip through south
and central america. They flew into chile and
began bus/boating/backpacking their way north.
I believe they are currently in costa rica, at
least last I knew. There current return may be
by May. they've kept a blog about most of the
places they've been through, and their online
photos tend to have a lot of info about cost
of everything (at the beginning she tended to
post the pic and price of many meals) As long
as you can overlook sloppy grammar. I am sure
they'd be happy to offer some suggestions (as
they are determined to get as many people as
possible to meet them places)
